Starting with the Transition® Proof of Concept’s appearance at the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, WI this summer, Terrafugia has received a lot of attention recently.  Named as part of the “Best of Oshkosh” in the November 2008 issue of Plane and Pilot, and featured in the October 2008 issue of Popular Science, the Transition® has continued to be well received.  An archived clip from Carl Dietrich’s appearance on Fox News can still be seen at: www.terrafugia.com/news.html.

Testing Report: Static Wing Loading Passed

The Transition® Proof of Concept has been undergoing a rigorous testing program since returning from Oshkosh at the end of the summer.  One of the first major tests to be conducted was the static wing loading test.  With dozens of sand bags distributed to simulate a 4g loading pressure distribution, the wings held the load well.  Successfully completing this test is a major milestone on the path to getting the first Transition® into the air.

Testing Report: Initial Powered Ground Testing

Progressing steadily through the prescribed sequence of testing, the Transition® Proof of Concept is performing well in early powered tests.  Both the ground drive train and the flight prop train have been successfully engaged with the installed 100hp Rotax engine.  The testing program is on schedule to accomplish first flight by the end of 2008.  Stay tuned for more results!
